Textile embroidery, three units of 1 x 1 m, 2023

The title refers to writing, to text (the embroidery can form a gray text, the repetition and obstinate gesture refers to the working principle of the artist Hessie, who forms a drawing gray, with rather very fine, light and organic motifs). Composed of two embroidered characters, two signs: H and A.
The combination of these two signs produces not just words, or at any rate not just signs or letters, but sounds or lack of sound linked to affects, reactions and interactions that can be both banal and particularly intense. Laughter can be violent, shouting can be gentle or joyful, silence can be comfortable or, on the contrary, suffocatingly meaningful. Between the lines highlights the non-verbal sounds between the words they punctuate, and which are all the more charged with affect, to which these characters refer, even though they are far from being able to contain them.
